Mara Jade was once known as the Emperor's Hand - a highly skilled assassin and operative who can hear the bidding of her master, the evil Sith Lord, Emperor Palpatine, from across the galaxy.  Trained since childhood by the Emperor himself, she was honed into a weapon and learned skills in the Force to serve her dark master.  As part of her training in the ways of the Force, she constructed her own lightsaber with a distinctive magenta blade.

Dismayed with Darth Vader after his confrontation with Luke Skywalker in the epic father/son duel on Bespin, the Emperor deployed Mara Jade on one of her last missions: assassinate Luke Skywalker.  He blamed Luke for the feelings of conflict of good and evil within Vader.

Mara Jade met Luke during the events of Grand Admiral Thrawn's campaign against the New Republic.  They had to cooperate to survive the wilderness planet of Myrkr.  Witnessing Luke's powerful Jedi abilities, Mara developed a begrudging respect for the Jedi Master.  Following the defeat of Thrawn, Luke gave Mara the gift of his first lightsaber, long thought lost down Cloud City's central chasm after his duel with Darth Vader, but recovered by agents of the empire.

Despite a decade of tension, the couple fell in love and ultimately wed on Coruscant.  The couple represented as inspiring ideal and a powerful symbol to a galaxy in turmoil.  A former Imperial agent and the galaxy's most powerful Jedi Master had found a way to overcome their differences and fall in love.

In 1999, Shannon McRandle was chosen to portray the Mara Jade for a series of photo shots, complete with her lightsaber.  And even though Mara Jade has never appeared in any of the Star Wars films, an entirely new Star Wars phenomenon began.  Since first being introduced in the 1991 novel Heir to the Empire, Mara Jade achieved cult status amongst the Star Wars fans.

Using reference materials form the Expanded Universe and working closely with Lucasfilm, Master Replicas was able to produce this faithful reproduction of Mara Jade's lightsaber.
