HAN SOLO BLASTER LE
STAR WARS: EPISODE IV A NEW HOPE

"...Han Solo, captain of the Millennium Falcon."  With those words, one of the greatest characters in motion picture history made his debut.  Everything about Han Solo, the brash smuggler-turn-hero, captured the imagination. As with everything in the Star Wars saga, the production design surrounding this character was exciting, from his costume to his weapons and gadgets.  Unquestionably, Solo's most important prop is his sidearm, the Blastech    DL-44 heavy blaster.

Master Replicas' reproduction of the Star Wars: A New Hope version of Han Solo's blaster pays homage to this piece of motion picture history.  Master Replicas conducted extensive research on this prop, including analysis of all available materials in Lucasfilm's archive and many meetings with the Lucas Licensing staff to articulate many of the minor details of this prop.

Our research included collecting information obtained from the original prop company that produced the blaster, Bapty Company in England.  The following is some of the more important pieces of information that were used to make the Master Replicas prop replica as accurate as possible:

     - The base gun used for the blaster was an 1896 Mauser, model C-96,
        9mm parabellum pistol.

     - The "flash suppressor" on the front of the barrel is believed to be a nozzle
       from an antique fire extinguisher.

     - The scope used on the blaster was a German-made sighting scope
made by the Hensoldt Wetzlar company.

     - The "heat sink" on the front of the grip frame was actually three cylinders
from a plastic model airplane kit, glued end-to-end.

The original blaster prop disappeared sometime within the 25 years since filming the movie and its location my never be known.  We used information gleaned from several reliable sources to identify and obtain identical copies of many of the parts that were used to construct the original prop.  We wish to thank everyone who participated in helping us collect this invaluable information.  Their exhaustive efforts resulted in an extremely accurate replica of this prop, and one that we are very proud to share with you.
